Rayless Goldenrod | Here is a plant you weren't expecting to find and probably didn't know existed unless you were paying attention to Yew Dell's rare plant auction in 2020. Native to the southern United States, this plant is plenty cold hardy here in our area and is a great addition to the rock garden. Drought tolerant, evergreen, and for the full sun this plant checks a lot of unusual criteria in the garden. Deep green mounds of grass like foliage send up large stalks of yellow flowers that resemble goldenrod in August. The foliage itself only grows to a few inches tall but the flowers will stand nearly a foot tall.
