Adiantum x Mairisii (Mairis' Maidenhair)

This lovely fern is a cross between the Southern Maidenhair and an unknown tropical fern. In our location in Crestwood, KY this fern is likely marginal as winter-hardy. Sources have its zone range from 6-9 or 7-10. It can still serve as a fantastic container plant in shady locations with its delicate, bright green lacy fronds that really stand out along the wiry black stems. They could also make a great houseplant, but they would need indirect light and some consistent humidity which can be hard to come by in the winter. If you plan on planting this fern in the landscape, it really enjoys consistent moisture but that does not mean soggy soil! Well-draining soils are best and full shade to dappled sun.
