Magnolia macrophylla var. ashei (Ashe Magnolia)

This is a variety of the native big leaf Magnolia found only in a few locations along the Gulf Coast.  It has a smaller, more shrubby habit but still huge white flowers.  This one tends to reach a flowering age faster than the straight species.
